Dr. Mike Scott

Dr. Scott is a highly qualified executive and engineer with 23 years experience in all aspects of the optical communications industry. He has held senior executive positions in a large multinational corporation and been officer of NASDAQ quoted technology company. Dr. Scott has 20 years plus experience of running complex multi country development teams and projects and is an experienced people manager and team developer. He also has extensive experience of M&A activities. He has working experience and extensive networking of photonics and academic communities in UK, US and Canada. He also holds non -exec positions on government and not for profit advisory boards.

     

Don Spalinger, MBA

Co-founder and Sr. Vice President, Southampton Photonics, Inc.

Mr. Spalinger is the driving force behind Southampton Photonics. Since its inception, he has led the team in defining the company and its products, hiring the senior management and technical team, and overseeing the ramp-up of marketing, design, and production operations. It is his role to work with customers, matching their needs with products made possible by the company's application specific fiber platform. Mr. Spalinger serves as company spokesman, interfacing with investors, the investment community, and the press. Mr. Spalinger is the former Managing Vice President/Practice Leader of worldwide telecom research for the GartnerGroup. Before that, he was founder and President of On-Stream Networking (acquired by 3Com). Mr. Spalinger developed one of the first wireless LANs and led the team that developed the first commercial multi-megabit drop and insert multiplexer.
Spalinger graduated from the University of Texas Phi Beta Kappa in Physics, and has an MBA in Technical Management also from the University of Texas.

 
 
     

Dr. Jörg Neukum

Dr. Neukum received doctoral degree in laser spectroscopy in 1995 from Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. Since then he has held manager positions in laser industry including ROHM-Europe, Coherent and DILAS/Rofin Sinar. In 1997-2003 he worked as Market development manager & European sales manager at Coherent, Inc. in Santa Clara, California. Since Jan 2004 he has held Sales and marketing manager position at DILAS / Rofin Sinar in Germany. Dr. Neukum has extensive experience in high-power laser market and in depth understanding of product requirements of unmounted laser bars.

 
     

Dr. Pekka Savolainen
Technology advisor
Founder

Dr. Savolainen has been instrumental in developing new products in start-up phase due to his extensive scientific experience. Prior to joining Modulight Pekka worked part-time for Coherent as process expert for demanding high-power laser projects and was primarily employed by Tampere University of Technology where he was part of the management team of the research unit. Pekka was also a founder in Tutcore, a company that later became Coherent Finland after it was sold to world's biggest high-power laser manufacturer Coherent.

Seppo Orsila, MBA
Chairman

M.Sc in semiconductor physics (TUT) and MBA from Helsinki School of Economics. Seppo has developed businesses more than 10 years. Prior to joining Modulight he worked at TUT where he was among the key researchers in both conducting the research projects as well as generating new projects. Since establishing Modulight Seppo has been responsible for finance, marketing and IT.
   
 
       
 

Dr. Hubert Jouve
Board member, founder

Hubert has been involved with Modulight since its birth. He brings to Modulight his 20+ years experience in management and finance of technology companies as well as his experience in semiconductor technology, which dates to the birth of the industry. Hubert has been instrumental in development of various semiconductor-based technologies. His experience spans from magnetic heads for hard disc drives, chemical sensors for automotive industry, to semi-conductor material for telecom integrated circuits.. He has been building several businesses with rapid growth from zero up to 500 people.

   
       
 

Dr. Petteri Uusimaa

President & CEO, founder

PhD in semiconductor physics from Tampere University of Technology (TUT). Prior to joining Modulight Petteri held numerous manager positions in international research projects in which he managed relations to international funding companies as well as was the principal scientist in the programs. Since 1997 Petteri has been managing semiconductor sales to multinational companies and acted as a President & CEO of Modulight since incorporating the company in 2000.
